1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through our website (anhojaelaw.com), email, telephone, KakaoTalk, video consultations, and in the course of providing legal services.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not process account registrations or card payments directly on this website.

3. How We Use Information

• To provide legal services and prepare and file documents with government agencies
• To communicate with you and respond to consultation requests
• To issue invoices, process payments and refunds, and maintain accounting and tax records
• To perform conflict-of-interest checks and screening against U.S. sanctions lists (OFAC SDN and others) as required by law
• For anti-money-laundering, fraud prevention, and defense of claims
• To maintain website security and correct errors

We do not use personal information for purposes beyond these without your consent, and we do not send unsolicited marketing.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed, and only in these circumstances:

• Government agencies: information required to be submitted to the USPTO, KIPO, or another agency as part of a filing you have authorized
• Payment processing: our third-party payment processor, for card payments and invoicing. We do not store full card numbers; card data is handled directly by a PCI DSS–compliant processor.
• Professional collaborators: foreign associates, translators, draftspersons, and search providers engaged to work on your matter — all bound by confidentiality obligations
• Legal requirements: in response to a court order, subpoena, or lawful regulatory demand, except where the attorney-client privilege applies
• With your consent: where you request or authorize disclosure

5. International Transfers

Because our practice is cross-border, information may be transferred between the Republic of Korea and the United States. Transfers are limited to what is necessary to provide legal services and to carry out your instructions, and are made in compliance with applicable privacy laws and U.S. export control and sanctions laws.

6. Retention

• Client matter files: 7 years after the matter closes (consistent with Georgia record-retention practice)
• Accounting and payment records: as required by applicable tax law (generally 7 years)
• Inquiries that did not result in an engagement: retained 2 years for conflict-checking purposes, then deleted
• Web server logs: up to 12 months

After the applicable retention period, information is destroyed in a manner that prevents reconstruction.

7. Security

• HTTPS/TLS encryption across the website
• Access controls and two-factor authentication on client files
• Encryption of stored data and regular backups
• Attorney-client privilege and confidentiality under Rule 1.6 of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct

No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. For particularly sensitive materials, please use the secure channel we designate.

8. Your Rights

You may:

• Access and request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of information we are not legally required to retain
• Opt out of any non-essential communications
• Request return of your file at the conclusion of a matter

To exercise any of these rights, email office@anhojaelaw.com. We respond within 30 days. Clients covered by the California CCPA/CPRA, the EU or UK GDPR, or Korea's Personal Information Protection Act may also exercise the rights granted under those laws. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

9. Children

Our website and services are not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

10. Third-Party Links

Our website links to external sites, including our blog. Those sites are governed by their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices. Video consultations are conducted over general-purpose conferencing services such as Zoom or Google Meet; those providers' own privacy policies apply to data they process.

11. Changes and Contact

We will post any revisions to this policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will notify active clients by email.
